Art_Relationships, Color Wheel & Color Chemistry

Second grade A.R.T. (Art Related Theme) is RELATIONSHIPS.
The first unit is all about color relationships in the color wheel, aka making rainbows!

The girls learned to mix secondary and tertiary colors with the primary colors (red, blue and yellow). Using watercolor, they made a stained glass window full of all the colors they mixed and made up some of their own. See below for their original colors and clever names!

                     2nd Grade Social Studies

In Social Studies, we are studying about four Native Americans tribes.  Our first tribe, The Iroquois, lived in longhouses made of logs, cross poles, and covered with elm bark.  The girls were fascinated by their homes and enjoyed creating their own longhouses.

The girls also took notes about the way of life of The Iroquois and then used the Book Creator app on their iPads to illustrate and write four complete sentences describing the Iroquois culture.

What's App in Computer Science

Each year, we begin with a class discussion on the use of technology in school and at home.  We identify ways to be safe, prepared, respectful, and responsible.  We also discuss why we use technology:  to create, communicate, collaborate, and review information.  Finally, it was time to get work work creating personal collages in Pic Collage EDU and autobiographies in Book Creator!  Once the Pic Collages were finished, students learned how to change the background and lock screen of the iPads.  We have also learned how to print from Book Creator to the shared virtual printer!
